The Totnes &
Ivybridge link of Chernobyl Children Lifeline started in November
2006. Our Chair, Sue, was previously Chair of the South
Hams link and all the committee members except our Treasurer have
experience of hosting children. CCLL has no particular religious
or political affiliation - members come from all ages and stages
of life and we hope to reflect this locally by evolving a diverse
and egalitarian link. As a committee we meet roughly once a month and keep in close contact in between, as there is always plenty to be done in terms of fundraising, raising awareness of the link, recruiting and keeping in touch with host and support families etc etc. We currently hold open meetings as necessary although we plan to formalise this a bit in the next year. Link members/affiliates are welcome at the committee meetings but experience suggests that it is best to keep committee and open meetings separate. This avoids overburdening anyone who doesn't want to make the sort of commitment involved in being on the committee. Our philosophy for this link is pretty simple - we want to raise money, get kids over and have fun! We are a friendly bunch and welcome people from all backgrounds. Our committee meetings are held round the kitchen table and try to keep things as informal as possible within the structure necessary to run as a link. We would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us in any capacity - please look at How you can help and Get in touch with the link for more details. These are just some of the towns and villages in the Totnes and Ivybridge Link region - if in doubt, please ask!
