Did you know that if you ask your employer to make
your donation directly from your paypacket, it will cost you less to
give us more? Here's how it works: because your donation is made before your wages are taxed, you only have to give 78p for every pound you want to donate, and only 60p if you're a higher rate tax payer. So if you wanted the CCLL Totnes & Ivybridge link to get £5 a month, £5 will be taken out of your pay packet before you've even seen it but effectively the donation will cost you only £3.90 as you won't be paying the tax on that amount. You can only use payroll giving if your employer has joined the scheme, so you will need to speak to them direct about setting up your donation. Please make sure that you specify Chernobyl Children's Lifeline (Totnes and Ivybridge Link) as your chosen charity. Maybe you could encourage others that you work with to do the same? If your employer hasn't yet registered for payroll giving, or if you are an employer or self-employed, then all you have to do is sign up with a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) who will transmit the donations on your behalf. It's a really simple and straightforward process, honest! Your chosen PGA will give you a short grant application form to complete and your grant will be triggered once donations start. There is a small fee payable to the PGA for administration costs but this is negligible (for example about 25p a month if you are donating £10), and it's important to note that the PGAs are also charities set up with the purpose of administering the scheme. To find out more, have a look at the Payroll Giving Grants website or get in touch with one of us. If you do decide to sign up, please make sure that you specify Chernobyl Children Lifeline (Totnes & Ivybridge Link) as your chosen charity. Thanks. |
