Children’s Visit 2012 - Week 1

This years children arrived from the Ukraine on Wednesday 6th June 2012

Today the children arrived at Gatwick to start their month long adventure in the UK

They were welcomed to the Airport by a Senior Gatwick Manager

We all arrived in Portsmouth to meet the Host families.

Day 2 - St Patrick’s Church Hall - Hayling

Unfortunately due to the weather we had to cancel our day we had planned at Mengham Sailing Club, but Mike and Lucy has a ’Plan B’.

We visited St Patrick’s Church Hall for games, crafts and family fun with all our host families and many of our supporters.

We even had time for a BBQ in the rain thanks to Ian

Day 3 - Playzone - Go Bowling Fareham - Stokes Bay - Kayak with the Gosport Scouts



Our friends from Playzone welcomed us to the Playzone at Nothr Harbour, the children had a great time and lunch was sponsored by Nancy and Sally

Go Bowling Fareham


Our friends at Go Bowling in Fareham invited the children to an afternoon of bowling at the Newgate Lane bowling alley, the children had a great afternoon.

Stokes Bay


We had the oppertunity to visit Stokes Bay in Lee-on Solent, as the wind was blowing while the children played in the surf

Kayak with the Gosport Scouts


Our friend Ken Greenwood and his team of young helpers Gosport Scouts gave the children a lesson in Kayaking at Alverstoke

Day 4 - Clothing Day and Positive Massage

Clothing Day


Our friends Joan, Heather and their team hosted a clothing day for the children, letting the children pick clothes to take home to the Ukraine.

Our friends Mary, Toni and Sarah taught the children to massage each other and the hosts through a story about the British weather.

Day 5 - Butlins Bognor

The Children and our Host Families had a fantastic time at Butlins in Bognor Regis

Our thanks go to Emily, Linda for arranging the visit and helping us on arrival, as well as Paul in the Security

Papa John’s Restaurant

Thanks to Liam, Laura and Grace for being so welcoming during the meal

The Children presented Gosia with a Ukraine star for good luck

 Day 6 - Selsey

RNLI Selsey 

We visited the RNLI in Selsey, even the rain and floods disn’t keep us away!

Thanks to Mike for arranging our visit and to Enrique for allowing the children to get a chance to see the crabs and lobsters

Then it was off to Seacourt in Hayling for a bit to eat followed by Tennis and Basketball

It just all to much for Mike!

Day 7 - Portsmouth Dockyard

The Children had the chance to visit the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and had the chance to look aroung HMS Warrior and HMS Victory

The trip around the Harbour was great fun

Then in to Action Stations
